Google Location Sharing is an Android setting. It lets you share your real-time location from devices with people you choose in Google apps or services such as Maps, Family Link, or Personal Safety.
This setting is device and account-specific. If you’re logged into your account on more than one device, adjust this setting for each device separately.
What info you share with Location Sharing
The Location Sharing setting is off by default. It can’t be turned on until you share your location with someone in:

Maps

Family Link
-
Personal Safety
People you choose to share your location with can see your:

Name
-
Profile picture
-
Real-time location
-
Battery status
Shared info may also include where you’ve recently been. Google Maps may display how you’re traveling, such as walking or driving.
For each person you share your location with, you can choose whether they’re allowed to create notifications about you.
Tip: If your account is managed by a parent or guardian, they can manage Location Sharing with the Family Link app 
What you need
Important: Location Sharing works differently if a parent manages your Google Account. Learn more about location sharing on supervised accounts.
In order to share your location you need a(n):
- Google account
- Mobile device
- Active internet connection
- “Use location” turned on for your device. Learn how to manage your Android device’s location settings.
Tip: Location sharing may not be available for your Google Workspace domain. To turn on location sharing, ask your administrator.

Stop sharing your location with a specific person
- Open your device’s Settings app.
- Tap Location
Location services
- Tap the list of people you share your location with.
- Find the person you want to stop sharing with. Next to the person's name, tap Stop.
Pause Location Sharing
You can pause any updates to your location on your device as long as the setting is turned off.
- Open your device’s Settings app.
- Tap Location
- Turn off Use Location Sharing.
Tips:
- This won’t stop any of your shares, but they won’t be updated with your real-time location until you turn this setting on.
- You can use other location services on your device, such as Google Maps, while this setting is turned off.
- If anyone else has an account on the device, it won’t affect any shares they have. Each account on a device can manage their location shares separately.
- If you haven’t shared your location with any other users, you can’t turn this setting on or off. It shows as off by default.
