Apple Watch can aid in emergencies
Your Apple Watch has features that may be able to assist in certain emergency situations.

Call for help
When you need emergency assistance, help is at hand. Press and hold the side button on your watch until the Emergency SOS slider appears, continue holding, and your Apple Watch calls emergency services and texts your emergency contacts.

Get heart rate alerts
If your heart rate is too high—or too low—your Apple Watch alerts you so you can seek help if needed. Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, go to My Watch, tap Heart, turn on High Heart Rate or Low Heart Rate, then set a heart rate threshold.

Detect significant falls (Apple Watch Series 4 only)
If you take a fall of significant impact, and you’re then immobile and unresponsive for a minute, Apple Watch contacts emergency services and sends a message to your emergency contacts.

Wear a smarter medical ID bracelet
When you keep your medical ID on your Apple Watch, first responders can access your critical medical information from the Lock screen, without needing your passcode. To get started, open the Health app on your iPhone, tap Medical ID, then tap Create Medical ID. To view that ID, hold the side button on your Apple Watch, then drag the Medical ID slider to the right.
